Swing Dynasty is a fresh take on the big band sound of the 1920’s – 1940’s paying homage to greats such as Ellington, Basie, Miller, Goodman, and Armstrong. The ten member ensemble is smaller than a traditional 18 piece big band making it more nimble and spontaneous without losing the sonic punch, and is made up of some of the most virtuosic musicians from across the country whose list of performance credits are impressive for any group of musicians, let alone a group of all 20-somethings.

Award winning, jazz baritone saxophonistand woodwind instrumentalist Karl Stabnau is hailed as a "highly versatile and valuable musician...well versed in the tradition and future of the music." He has made a name for himself as a both a leader and a sideman having toured nationally with his own groups as well as internationally with the Grammy winning “Gil Evans Centennial Project.”
Born in Rochester, NY, Erik earned a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media from the Eastman School of Music. He has performed with the Birch Creek Jazz Orchestra, Eastman Jazz Ensemble, Dave Rivello Ensemble, and the O’Jays at venues including the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, Lewiston Jazz Festival, New Trier Jazz Festival, and Artpark.
